Donate to help girls, stay in school by providing them sanitary pads

The Million Girls Campaign

Did you know that around 50% of all women and girls worldwide use rags, grass and paper to manage their periods, which poses a significant risk to their health as these can cause urinary tract infections and bacterial vaginitis? Lack of access to information on menstrual hygiene, persisting stigma and poor sanitary conditions are causes of poor menstrual hygiene, affecting girls' social, economic and academic well-being.As well as health problems, period poverty perpetuates gender inequality. In Africa 1 in 10 girls miss school because of their periods, causing them to fall behind boys of their age. In India it is estimated that 23% of young girls drop out of school permanently when they start menstruating.

Marie-Claire Foundation ( KujaEcoPads) have partnered with Adifevea World DRC to manufacture and distribute low-cost eco-friendly sanitary pads to one million vulnerable schoolgirls ( orphans, refugees displaced girls, girls with disabilities, homeless and abandoned girls) in Cameroon and Congo in the netwo years. Each girl will receive a year's worth of sanitary pads, underwear and some soaps.

We have been joined on this life-changing journey by Goodwill Ambassadors from more than 10 countries around the world to end the stigma by making periods a normal fact of everyday life for vulnerable girls in Africa.
